Meet The Veteran Authors

Don spent a decade as an Army Apache helicopter pilot, and while deployed in Afghanistan was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Air Medal with “V” device for valor. Following his time in the military, Don worked as an FBI special agent focusing on foreign intelligence and counterintelligence and was a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team member.
Matt spent ten years as a Marine officer and was trained as a scout sniper platoon commander, an infantry officer, and a ground intelligence officer. His experiences include deployments to Djibouti after 9/11, and Fallujah, Iraq, prior to the surge, both in staff officer support billets, although he learned that enemy rocket and mortar fire don’t discriminate between billet types.
Lawrence A. Colby

A graduate of both the US Navy and US Air Force Flight Training Programs, Colby is part of a select group of pilots qualified to fly jets, prop planes, and helicopters. He held numerous squadron, air group, and wing positions, flying multiple operational missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other global locations. He flew under the call sign “Cheese.”
Commander, Troop Commander and Task Unit Commander. Over his 20 years in Naval Special Warfare he transitioned from an enlisted SEAL sniper, to a junior officer leading assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, to a platoon commander practicing counterinsurgency in the southern Philippines, to commanding a Special Operations Task Unit in the most Iranian influenced section of southern Iraq throughout the tumultuous drawdown of U.S. Forces.
Retired Navy Captain Kevin Miller is a third generation naval officer. In his career he flew the A-7E Corsair II and FA-18C Hornet, deploying overseas six times throughout the 1980’s and 90’s aboard the aircraft carriers Nimitz, Dwight D. Eisenhower, George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt and Enterprise. He finished his career in the Pentagon serving on the staff of the Secretary of the Navy, retiring in 2005.
During his active duty career in the U.S. Navy, Francesco "Paco" Chierici flew A-6E Intruders and F-14A Tomcats, deployed to conflict zones from Somalia to Iraq and was stationed aboard carriers including the USS Ranger, Nimitz and Kitty Hawk. Unable to give up dogfighting, he flew the F-5 Tiger II for a further ten years as a Bandit. Throughout his military career, Paco accumulated 3,000 tactical hours, 400 carrier landings, a Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star and three Strike/Flight Air Medals.
Lieutenant Colonel Hunter Ripley “Rip” Rawlings IV was a Marine Corps infantry and Reconnaissance Officer with over 23-years of active duty service. With ten combat and peace keeping deployments including Iraq (OIF), Afghanistan (OEF), CJTF-HOA (OEF) Djibouti and a specialty military reconnaissance advisor to Saudi Arabian forces, to name a few. He has served on Joint assignment to NATO and was a Pentagon Strategic Planner.
Scott has served in leadership positions across the US Government and industry for over twenty-five years. He has worked in and with the US Air Force, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and several other key organizations that are “in the business.” While in government service, Scott served as an Air Force Intelligence Operations Officer and a Special Agent with the FBI.
Brad Taylor was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry. Brad served for more than 21 years, retiring as a Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel. During that time he held numerous Infantry and Special Forces positions, including eight years in 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment – Delta where he commanded multiple troops and a squadron. He has conducted operations in support of US national interests in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other classified locations.
Being a full-time physician hasn't stopped Joel from writing. Far from it, the complexity of his patients, prior service with the United States Air Force, a Master's in Public Health, and involvement in organized medicine in the middle of an ever-changing healthcare system all provide raw material for his stories.
Daniel Charles Ross

Daniel Charles Ross is a retired US Navy Reserve chief petty officer, the award-winning former chief journalist of the US Navy Seabees, and a former active duty U.S. Army military police investigator. He spent five of his Army years in Germany in two trips, mostly in long-duration undercover anti-drug operations.
Josh spent five years in the 82nd Airborne Division, becoming a team leader in the 3-504 Parachute Infantry Regiment in Iraq from 2005-2006 where he conducted combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. From 2007-2008, he served as a squad leader with the 1-508th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Afghanistan where he put more Foot-to-Taliban-Ass and was decorated for valor in Operation Furious Pursuit.
